X shadowban: causes, how to check it and how to recover

Short answer

X calls it reduced visibility: your tweets stop showing in search, your account stops showing in account search, or your replies get hidden. It usually follows spam-like or very fast bulk activity, and it often lifts after a few days once the cause stops.

How to check

You see your own tweets even when others do not, so check from another account. In Erasion, open Account health → Visibility check in a second Chrome profile signed in to a different X account. It only reads: it never likes, follows or tweets.

How to recover

  1. Stop bulk activity for 24–48 hours.
  2. Delete spam-like replies: duplicates, repeated links and hashtag-heavy tweets (guide).
  3. When you clean up again, use a careful speed with random pauses.
  4. Check again after a few days.

X does not publish its rules for this, so no tool can promise a result. These steps remove the usual triggers.

Never. Checkers only need a username. Erasion never asks for your X password either.

How long does a shadowban last?

Often a few days after the cause stops, but X does not publish a timeline.
